Derek LeBlanc is an Oregon firearms instructor and the founder and president of the Kids S.A.F.E. Foundation. S.A.F.E. stands for Safety Around Firearms Education, and the foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Eugene, Oregon, built around one goal: zero firearm accidents involving children.
Derek trained through Oregon DPSST programs and local law enforcement concealed carry instruction. He began teaching a home firearm safety class for kids in 2016, and that class grew into a non-partisan, non-political safety program that schools, community groups and families can use no matter where they stand on guns.
By the time of this episode, Derek and the Kids S.A.F.E. Foundation had trained more than 29,000 kids across five states.
