Brooke Cheney learned to shoot as a young girl with her dad. Years later she became an NRA certified instructor and founded A Great Start Shooting School, helping women in Connecticut earn their permits and get comfortable with their firearms. Her teaching led to work with A Girl & A Gun, including instructing at its national conference.
Instruction pulled Brooke into politics. Living close to Newtown, she became active with the Connecticut Citizens Defense League and went from competitive shooter to a familiar voice at legislative hearings, testifying at the Connecticut Capitol and working on Second Amendment issues in Washington, D.C.
